Marine Equipment: Certification and Technical Verification Processes
The certification process for marine products is a procedure that proves the equipment can perform its function even under the most extreme conditions. As GTL (Global Technology Laboratory), the fundamental testing and inspection processes we conduct in our laboratories to ensure your products can navigate the world's waters safely are as follows:
Visual and Functional Analyses
Our certification process begins with an examination of the physical integrity and ergonomic usability of the equipment. Within this scope, visual inspections are conducted on critical control units such as the pilot's cabin (cabina di pilotaggio) to verify that the design meets operational requirements. Additionally, a general efficiency analysis of the system is performed to measure the balance between energy consumption and performance.
Mechanical and Physical Durability Tests
We use advanced testing techniques to simulate the physical stress of the marine environment on equipment:
- Pressure Tests: The leak-tightness and structural integrity of underwater or pressurized pipeline equipment is verified.
- Vibration and Tilt Feature: The device is tested to see if it operates stably under the ship's vibrations while underway and tilt movements in rough seas.
- Humidity and Low Temperature: Environmental limits such as humid air causing intense corrosion in the sea and extreme cold in polar regions are simulated.
Electrical Safety and Energy Reliability
Power continuity is critical in marine electronics. For this reason, we subject your power systems to the following rigorous tests:
- Power Source Variation and Failure: The device’s response and safety during sudden fluctuations or complete power outages in generator or battery systems are measured.
- Insulation Resistance and High Voltage: Dielectric and resistance tests are meticulously performed to prevent electrical leakage and ensure the system maintains its insulation under high voltage.
Solution-Focused Engineering
GTL expertise does not stop at performing these tests; for example, when problems arise in insulation resistance or power supply tests, we leverage our consolidated experience to provide our customers with technical solutions, ensuring the certification process is successfully completed.
